I had a little meme I was going to send with a motivational quote but I woke up today to the news that David Bowie passed away and just like that, my heart was broken, I know, I know, not very motivational but bare with me. I am an old soul, always have been, I know I’ve mentioned before how I was raised by my grandparents but I also was raised by my aunts and uncles and the biggest legacy I got from them was music, I was born in ’78 but my aunts and uncle were all born during the 60’s and they made sure to drag me through all of their music phases making the soundtrack of my life very diverse, and by diverse, I mean all over the place, from Big Band, to Hippie Folk, Punk Rock and everything in between so is understandable that by the late 80’s early 90’s when I should have been listening to New Kids on the Block or Ace of Base, I was listening to The Beatles, Janis Joplin, The Alan Parsons Project, The Clash, Beach Boys, Blondie and my favorite David Bowie; so obviously I stood out a lot, I didn’t really speak the same language as the kids from my generation but Bowie always reminded me that it is OK to stand out and on top of that he is responsible for my number one happy song “Modern Love”. This song just makes me happy and even though it talks about the struggle between God and Man which is very heavy, the music is so “peppy happy snappy” that it is impossible for me to hear it and not smile and dance to it. So my message on this Motivational Monday is to be “unapologetically YOU, always let your freak flag fly and never be boring.”

I leave you with my happy song Modern Love:
